Game Synopsis
The year is 2395. The galaxy has been under the mass evasion of the Borg for years now.
Years ago- In the beginning both Beta and Gamma quadrants where not assaulted as much as the alpha quadrant. Federation losses where close to the millions as wave after wave of ships gathered and destroyed each other. It wasn’t until the efforts of both Starfleet intelligence and command that presented an idea. An idea that sought out the construction of a newly designed and variant built ship, a powerful and stealthy Nova-class ship. She was called the NX Vanguard. Her mission was to sabotage any increasing Borg attacks and inflict impressive damage through internal means.
After years of work, fighting and exploration; the NX Vanguard was to be successful but a cost. During her voyage home after completing a crippling strike to the Borg long range sensors picked up a band of spheres heading for her home star-base. She went into high warp to attempt to reach the base in time. She did, engaging in a epic battle to keep as much damage off the base and with the aid of a few other ships the NX gave her life, with the crew safely beamed onto the other ships, to destroy the remain sphere. All hands including the captain were saved.
Though the ship proved to surpass her made intentions, Starfleet did not re-create the class or specifications for another ship.
After almost eight years of battling the Borg back, victory is within sight. Recently a few members of the Federation council have been rumored that they have taken a few fleets of ships and have joined forces with members of a rouge Cardassian armada. Together they believe that the only means of victory is the total annihilation of the Borg race. This however is genocide and the remaining Federation council has once again deemed it necessary to once again go beyond the normal limits.
The registry Vanguard has been shed light again. It is now being called the Vanguard Project. A Legacy-class ship that is a new design for Starfleet, has been authorized for use. She is commissioned and admitted the name: USS Vanguard NCC-74755. The ship will be customized and refitted for intense dealings. All this because another rumor, more deadly than defected personnel, is a weapon….a time weapon.
It has been noted that strange behaviors in ship disappearances and other temporal anomalies have been coming in. It is up to the Vanguard to end any realistic threats, disband and bring the Federation defects into court martial and if possible lead the victorious strike to end the Borg war.
